We had a rock crusher plant ran by a D-343. Lots of torque.

Is that how they could run distillate fuel? On alot of 1930s tractors I always saw they would start on gas and switch because it was cheaper.

Curious why no oil on the bit while cutting? I always oil and keep it oiled for cutting.

It’s funny how much time in the shop is spent applying the same physics of one machine to another that in this particular case does the job better than the actual machine you’re emulating

It always blows my mind, usually when I’m at Discount Tire, how much good tires cost. Then you think about the abuse they endure and the safety they instill and then it makes sense.

Remember the photo of a piece of emery cloth around a spinning work piece and both ends of the abrasive cloth pinched between the tool post rocker and the tool holder? To add tension you just backed the cross slide away from the work but you couldn't expose fresh abrasive. I suppose you could use a sanding belt inside out and reclamp. I file left handed on the lathe because I am usually working close to the chuck. I actually do have a long angle lathe file and it actually is better than a mill file. Anyway, great video!

Is that two separate studs or a piece of all thread? With my luck I rip the threads off screwing two studs together with a flange nut.

I don't get the love for 300-6 engined, all the things people rave about a 302 will do except actually make power. I've had a 300 in an 89 f150 regular cab and most of my dad's e150 and e250 vans fleet vans had 300s and as far as I could see they got just as bad fuel economy but they were all gutless. I've seen 302s run forever also, I had an old junk 79 f150 with a 302 2 bbl and it was old and had zillion miles on it when I got it it wasn't on the road it had a rear main that was smoked I would dump a Qt in it go do a burn out oil light would come on it would start rattling, I repeated that dozens of times I sold it the guy tossed rear main seal in it and beat on it for over a year he sold it and that guy beat on for another year or so then another guy bought it to restore... What more could you ask for...?
